Wakatobi has 4 major island parts, namely Kaledupa, Wangi-wangi, Southeast Sulawesi, and Binongko which are located in Wakatobi Regency itself. Wakatobi National Park has approximately 1,390,000 hectares of land. Wakatobi has a very complete wealth of underwater natural diversity, such as coral reefs and various marine animals. Because of this, Wakatobi National Park offers a fascinating underwater view and is very suitable as a dive site.

Tourist attraction

If you travel on Sulawesi Island, do not visit Wakatobi. With the beauty of the underwater panorama and a diverse group of coral reefs is a mainstay of the Wakatobi tourist park. There are around 112 types of coral reefs from 13 families spread over 25 points. Some of these corals are A. hyacinthus, Acropora formosa, Psammocora profundasafla, Leptoseris yabei, Pavona cactus, Fungia molucensis, Merulina ampliata, Lobophyllia robusta, Platygyra versifora, Tubastraea frondes, Euphyllia glabrescens, Stylophora pistillata, Sinularia spp and Sarcophyton throchelliophorum. Not only that, there are very beautiful underwater caves located along the reef.

In addition to the diversity of coral reefs, Wakatobi National Park has fish species which number around 93 species. Some species of Wakatobi inhabitants are takhasang (Naso unicornis), argus speck (Cephalopholus argus), pogo-pogo (Balistoides viridescens), red fish (Lutjanus biguttatus), napoleon (Cheilinus undulatus), baronang (Siganus guttatus), Chaetodon specullum , Amphiprion melanopus, Chelmon rostratus, Lutjanus monostigma, Heniochus acuminatus, and Caesio caerularea. Some turtles often stop at Wakatobi Island to lay eggs, namely loggerhead turtles (Caretta), hawksbill turtles (Eretmochelys imbricata), and lekang turtles (Lepidochelys olivacea).

In addition to fish and turtle species, some sea birds that add to the beauty of this park are Malay kettle (Charadrius peronii) and brown swan (Sula leucogaster plotus). There are so many activities that can be done when tourists visit this national park, such as diving, snorkeling, playing water or swimming, hunting photos, and so on.

The entrance to Wakatobi National Park is in Wanci Village, Wakatobi Regency, Southeast Sulawesi. Although Wakatobi itself is part of 4 islands

Access

To get to the location of Wakatobi, tourists must go through 3 stages. The first, starting from Kendari to Bau-bau by air and sea transportation. If you use air transportation, the trip is only about 1 hour drive. If you use sea transportation, it takes 4 hours more.

After arriving in the city of Bau-bau, the journey continues by using the car to Lasalimu in approximately 2 hours.

After arriving at Lasalimu the journey continues to go to Wanci which is the entrance to the Wakatobi National Park Area. This trip can only use the ship with approximately 1 hour.

Facilities and Accommodation

In this area accommodation facilities and accommodations already exist, there are several home stays and hotels near Wakatobi National Park, such as Wakatobi Patuno Resort which you can use for overnight. Restaurants or food stalls with seafood menus are often found. If you want to do diving, there are several places for diving equipment rentals.
